A recently filed legal suit for a failed ERP software implementation reads like “a textbook about consulting gone wrong.”
I have a couple of take-aways after reading this article in Computerworld that breaks down how an IT services firm called Avanade stumbled when it attempted to deliver on a massive project for an inexperienced customer.
1. Set shared expectations; never overpromise and under-deliver to a client.
2. Communicate, communicate, communicate; it’s the foundation of effective client and account management.
3. There is typically two sides to a story, yet this type of failed project damages a vendor’s reputation.
