Power statements infuse meaning and memorability into a presentation. This is especially true at an industry conference, where speakers jockey for attention amidst a myriad of competing views and distractions.
Last week’s Mid Atlantic Marketing Summit in McLean, VA is a case in point. This gathering of nearly 400 corporate marketers, communications professionals and technologists who work in the Washington, DC area has emerged as one of the go-to venues for A-list speakers and panelists.
I was fortunate to be selected to keynote and host a panel about Web2Sales. Plus, I was sat in on a half dozen other sessions with the goal of picking up best practices from other accomplished marketers.
Here is a collection of power statements I captured in my notes:
“Be the best in the world at one thing, and be flexible about what that one thing is. The strategy helped us grow from $10M to $125M in annual revenue.”
Joe Payne, former CEO, Eloqua
“At Gannett, marketing is driven by leverage of big data to truly understand and know the customer. We want to migrate from unknown users to known users across of all of our media properties.”
David Payne, Chief Digital Officer, Gannett
“Sales is an art at EverFi, more than a science. We need to work in a customized fashion with sales reps to target accounts.”
Brian Cooley, CMO, EverFi
“We respect time. That’s what it takes to evaluate a new program to determine if it is (or isn’t) working.”
Anuj Agrawal, VP of Product Marketing, Orchestro
